Yoga for a Busy Mind & a Tired Nervous System

A lot of people walk into their first yoga class looking around the room, sure everyone else knows the moves. Julie was one of them. She came to yoga in her mid-20s as a runner and a brand new teacher, running on high alert all day and looking for something that would do more than keep her in shape. What she found was a way to calm her nervous system, quiet her mind, and come back to the present moment.

That is what she offers her students now. Her classes blend mindful movement, breath, strength, & stillness, with plenty of room to modify. You do not have to be flexible. You do not need experience. You do not have to get every pose right.

"Sometimes we need to work hard and sometimes we need to surrender. Let go of expectations, quiet the inner critic, and simply be present."

Julie's Yoga Classes

Julie teaches small group classes at the Within Reach Healing studio in Hinsdale. Every class is built for all levels.

ALL YOGA CLASSES ARE $25 PER CLASS

All-Levels Vinyasa Flow

Julie's specialty. Each class begins with grounding and breath awareness, then gradually builds warmth & energy through flowing sequences, standing poses, balance work, and a chance to explore something new. Clear cues and modifications keep it individualized. The pace may build, but there is always space to slow down, reconnect with the breath, and ease into a restorative cool down and Savasana. The focus is balance between effort & ease, not a perfect pose.

Yin & Restorative Yoga

A slower, grounding class that pairs Yin and Restorative yoga with gentle movement, breath work, and longer-held postures. Some poses are held for several minutes so you have time to notice sensation and let the mind settle. Bolsters, blankets, & blocks fully support the body so you can release effort. There is no expectation to push deeper. Just space to breathe, listen inward, and let go.

Julie often weaves a theme or intention through class, such as trust the process, balancing the nervous system, the chakras, or the turning of the seasons. It gives the practice something to carry off the mat. Beginner classes are on the way.

Private & small group sessions. Julie is open to private yoga or small group sessions arranged around your schedule. Call Within Reach Healing at (331) 299-2738 to ask about times.

Julie's Background

Julie has been on her mat for more than two decades. Early on she was focused on doing everything right: proper alignment, steady progress, every pose improving. Over time the practice taught her something different. There is no perfect practice, and there does not need to be. Some days call for strength. Some days call for rest. Learning to give herself grace on the mat taught her to give herself more grace in life.

Yoga has carried her through heavy seasons, too. More recently, a family health challenge put her own teaching plans on hold while she focused on home. She kept practicing, kept going, and came out the other side ready to share what has steadied her for years.

She is a wife, a mother of two boys, and an elementary school teacher of 25 years. Her practice shapes how she parents and teaches: get to know each person as an individual, create a space where it feels safe to take risks and make mistakes, and celebrate the small wins along the way. She brings that same approach to adults on the mat.

Julie completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Simply Yoga in Lemont in 2025. Her specialty is Vinyasa flow, and she is growing her restorative and meditation practice so her classes offer room not only to move & strengthen, but also to pause, breathe, and simply be.

What to Expect

Expect a calm, patient teacher and a welcoming room. You will move at your own pace, with options to make each pose easier or more challenging. Wear something comfortable you can move in, bring a mat if you have one, and arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in without rushing.

Julie hopes you walk out more grounded, more present, and a little more peaceful, with a sense of release and something to be grateful for that carries into the rest of your evening.
